What We Collect
Nothing. WatchOver does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data.
How Motion Detection Works
WatchOver uses your iPhone's built-in motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to detect movement. This data:
- Is processed entirely on your device
- Is never stored or saved
- Is never transmitted over the network
- Is never shared with any third parties
- Disappears as soon as it's processed
Apple Watch Communication
When Sentry Mode is active, your iPhone and Apple Watch communicate via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This communication:
- Happens locally between your paired devices via Bluetooth
- Only sends basic status updates (armed/disarmed, alert level)
- Does not leave your personal device ecosystem
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
Permissions We Request
WatchOver requires the following permissions to function:
Motion & Fitness Access
Why we need it: To access motion sensor data for detecting device movement.
What we do with it: Process motion data in real-time to determine alert levels. No data is stored or transmitted.
No Third-Party Services
WatchOver does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools. The app is completely self-contained.
No Cloud Storage
WatchOver does not use any cloud services or remote servers. All processing happens locally on your devices. We don't even have servers to store data on.
No User Accounts
WatchOver does not require user accounts, registration, or any form of identification. You don't need to provide any personal information to use the app.
Settings & Preferences
Any settings you configure (like sensitivity thresholds) are stored locally on your iPhone using iOS's standard UserDefaults system. This data never leaves your device and is only accessible to the WatchOver app.
App Store & Apple
When you download WatchOver from the App Store, Apple may collect information about the download as part of their standard App Store operations. We do not have access to this information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on their data practices.
Children's Privacy
WatchOver does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy practices, we'll update this policy and the "Last Updated" date at the top. However, our commitment to privacy-first design will never change.
